De formation sociologue avec une diplôme de commerce et un doctorat en sciences politiques, j'ai mené mes études à l'université de Lausanne, Suisse, puis comme doctorant préparant une thèse sur l'intégration des migrants ruraux en milieu urbain au Mexique, au Colegio de México, Mexico DF, et au Center for Latin American Studies de l'Université de Californie à Berkeley, USA.

Je suis ensuite engagé par la Coopération suisse (DDC-DFAE) comme expert dans une agence d'aménagement d'un grand bidonville à Douala, Cameroun.

Je rejoins l'Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, où j'ai travaillé comme chercheur urbain, puis comme directeur de la coopération et professeur en développement urbain. J'ai dirigé de nombreux projets dans le domaine urbain et dans la promotion de la coopération scientifique au développement Nord-Sud.

Trained as a sociologist with a PhD in political science, I studied at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland, then, as a PhD candidate preparing a thesis on the integration of rural migrants in an urban environment in Mexico, I worked at the Colegio de México, Mexico DF, and at the Center for Latin American Studies at the University of California at Berkeley, USA.
I was then hired by the Swiss Cooperation (SDC) as an urban officer in an urban planning agency for, aiming to upgrade a large slum in Douala, Cameroon.
I later joined the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Lausanne, EPFL, where I will work 30 years as an urban researcher, then as director of cooperation, professor of urban development, and head of the UNESCO Chair "Technologies for Development". I have leaded many projects in the urban field and in the promotion of scientific cooperation in North-South development.
